Real Time Engineers Ltd. are the owners of the FreeRTOS brand. FreeRTOS is an extremely popular (more than 150,000 downloads in two years), open source, small footprint, real time kernel that has been designed specifically for microcontrollers. FreeRTOS is free to download, free to deploy, and licensed in a way that makes it suitable for use in commercial applications - without risking any proprietary IP. Real Time Engineers Ltd. also license the FreeRTOS code base to a global engineering company for sale under the OpenRTOS and SafeRTOS brands. OpenRTOS provides a commercial licensing and support option to FreeRTOS users. OpenRTOS can also be provided with professional TCP/IP, USB and file system components. SafeRTOS is a code base that has undergone considerable safety related engineering and testing, resulting in third party certification to the stringent IEC 61508 safety standard (SIL3). SafeRTOS is provided with a complete Design Assurance Pack that contains complete safety lifecycle documentation and evidence.
