Xilinx technology responds to the new realities of business by allowing our customers to move quickly - getting innovative new products to market in a matter of weeks- while drastically reducing their research and development costs. Xilinx FPGAs deliver the performance, cost, power consumption and capacity that at one time could only be met by costly custom chips designed for specific applications.

In essence, we offer the design engineer a blank device that can be configured and reconfigured "on the fly" to implement any logic function that can be performed by an application-specific device. We make hundreds of thousands of programmable logic blocks - comprised of billions of transistors - available to the designer to wire together using reconfigurable interconnects to deliver the desired electronic functions.

Xilinx FPGAs allow our customers to make changes to their designs very late in the design cycle, as well. Even after the end product has been manufactured and deployed in the field, they can extend its useful life by reprogramming the chip. Our FPGAs offer the added benefit of allowing field upgrades to be completed remotely, eliminating the costs associated with re-designing or manually updating electronic systems.
