FIFO Generator Migration

Migrating to the latest version of the (non-AXI)* FIFO Generator core is easy using the FIFO Generator migration script. The FIFO Migration Guide describes how you can access and use the script to automatically convert the legacy CORE Generator™ Synchronous FIFO v6.x) and Asynchronous FIFO v6.x cores to the latest version of the FIFO Generator.

The script also allows you to upgrade an older version of the FIFO Generator core to the latest released version.

v7.2 of the FIFO Generator Migration Guide has been updated to describe the process of migrating these cores to all released versions of FIFO Generator up to v7.2.

Note: Cores generated by the FIFO Generator customizer are not drop-in replacements for the v6.x cores above as there are a number of feature and interface changes in the FIFO Generator.

Why Migrate Your Design?

Migrating v6.x CORE Generator Asynchronous and Synchronous FIFO blocks in your design to FIFO Generator style cores allows you to port existing designs to new Xilinx architectures.
Design conversion also allows you to take advantage of
new feature enhancements available in FIFO Generator core today, as well as any enhancements and bug fixes which will be made in the future.
The Asynchronous FIFO and Synchronous FIFO cores have been discontinued and no further enhancements are being made to them.
