This tutorial will use a simple CoolRunner design to walk you through all of the ChipViewer functions described in the Assigning Pins (Pre-Fit Tasks) section of this online help system. It will give you a brief introduction to the way that ChipViewer works by allowing you to apply the generalized functionality described above to a specific design (jc2_top.ngd). The same design will be used in both the Pre-Fit (.ngd file) and the Post-Fit (.vm6) tutorials so you can see the range of ChipViewer applications applied to both steps of the design process.
