Use the Design Hierarchy window to navigate your design hierarchy, create custom I/O groups, and quickly navigate between various sections of your design. The Design Hierarchy window displays your design's overall hierarchy and grouping structures.
The Design Hierarchy window contains the following three root hierarchy elements (which cannot be collapsed):
Expanding the I/O Pins Root displays I/O symbols in your design
Selecting the I/O Pins Root displays the Design Object List (DOL) for I/Os
Selecting an I/O symbol selects the symbol in all other views
I/O symbols can be selected and dragged and dropped from the Design Hierarchy to the Package Pin or Device Architecture windows
The Global Logic root displays global logic elements
Global logic including BUFGs, BRAMs, MULTs, PPC405s, GTs, DLLs, and DCMs are displayed under this root
Grouping mechanisms are disabled for Global Logic
The Logic Root displays your design's hierarchy as defined in the NGD file.
Names of the hierarchical elements displayed are not full hierarchical names
Selecting a hierarchy selects all of its sub-hierarchies recursively
Design Logic Hierarchy is read-only, and cannot be created, deleted, moved or renamed
Grouping mechanisms are disabled for Logic
