Configuring Software for Debugging

In the System Explorer window, select the processor to configure for debugging.

If a processor has already enabled debug feature, the check box is selected by default. Otherwise, you can select the check box to enable it.  As a result, the processor is connected to the debug core in the system (opb_mdm for MicroBlaze, or jtagppc_cntrl for PowerPC).

For the soft processor MicroBlaze, you can set up the number of hardware break points and Read/Write address watch points; for PowerPC the number of hardware break points and address watch points cannot be changed.

All PowerPC instances in the system enable or disable software debugging at the same time.

If a processor is selected to co-debug with ChipScope IBA as described in Monitoring Hardware Signals, it also enables the software debug feature.
