Platform Studio

Using the Debug Configuration Wizard

The Debug Configuration wizard automates hardware and software platform debug configuration tasks common to most designs. To open the Debug Configuration wizard, select Debug > Debug Configuration. It has three primary viewing panels, as described below:

The System Explorer (1)

Use this main window to navigate through and configure debug features for the available ChipScope™ cores and processors. Select an item to open the configuration of that core in the Debug Configuration pane.

The Configuration Pane (2)

Use this pane to modify the debug configuration of your system. Use the Basic and Advanced tabs to modify settings of the selected core.  The Basic tab provides limited options for configuring debug features.  The Advanced tab provides advanced options, for more control of debug features.

Note Some changes made in one tab will affect settings in the other tab.

The Console Window (3)

This window displays output, warning, error and information messages from the Debug Configuration wizard.

Restrictions

When you change existing port connections to debug with the virtual output port of a ChipScope VIO core's virtual output port, deleting the core does not automatically restore the previous connections. Previous connections are commented out in the Microprocessor Hardware Specification (MHS) file, so that you can later restore them.
