NOTE: Virtex-II Pro FPGAs are a mature product. XUPV2P must not be used for new installations. To use this board, you must already be a current Xilinx development tools version 10.1 or earlier license holder.

The XUP Virtex®-II Pro FPGA development system can be used at virtually any level of the engineering curricula, from introductory courses through advanced research projects. 

• Functions as a digital design trainer, a microprocessor development system, or a host for embedded processor cores and complex digital systems
• Powerful enough to support advanced research projects, but affordable enough to be placed at every workstation 
• Expansion connectors can accommodate special-purpose circuits and systems for years to come
• Can remain at the core of an engineering educational program indefinitely 
• Supported by world-class design tools:
  •  ISE® Foundation™ software (WebPACK™ software cannot be used)
  • ChipScope™ Pro tool
  • Embedded Developers Kit (EDK)
  • System Generator for DSP  

Applications that include an embedded processor require EDK, and those that do not include a processor can use ISE software.
