What is the design flow for using LogiCORE cores?

Overview

This page provides an overview of the process for evaluating, purchasing, and activation of LogiCORE™ IP cores delivered through the ISE® CORE Generator™.

Install the Required Software

First refer to the IP core product page for details regarding the IP core Requirements with regard to ISE Service Packs and ISE CORE Generator IP Updates.

Download any required software from the Xilinx Product Download and Licensing site. Also generate and install evaluation or full license keys for the software you have installed. Additional information on software and IP installation and licensing can be found in the 11.1 Download, Licensing and Release Notes document.

Customize the Core

• Start up the ISE Design Suite CORE Generator tool and locate the customization GUI for the core within the CORE Generator IP catalog GUI.
• Set the parameters for the core as desired and generate the core.

Generate and Install a License Key

• Fee-based Cores
  • You can activate a free evaluation version of the core by going to the Xilinx Product Download and Licensing Site and generating and installing a Hardware Evaluation License Key for the core.
• Cores Included with ISE CORE Generator
  • Activate the full version of the core by going to the Xilinx Product Download and Licensing Site and generating and installing a Full License Key for the core.

Integrate the Core Into Your Design

• Integrate the core into your design and evaluate it by running functional simulation with the supported industry standard simulators listed in the IP core data sheet.
• Place and route the design and evaluate it further for timing by running timing simulation and timing analysis.
• Generate a bitstream and program the design into a Xilinx FPGA and evaluate the core in hardware. The evaluation core will cease to function after a number of hours as specified in its requirements page.

Purchase a License

• Cores Included with ISE CORE Generator
  • If the core is included with ISE CORE Generator at no additional charge, you are done.
• For Fee-based Cores
  • Once you have confirmed the core meets your requirements, contact your local Xilinx sales office to purchase a full license for the core. Licensing terms and part numbers to use for ordering can be found in the "Order" link on the IP core product page.
  • After placing your order with Xilinx, you will receive an email with instructions directing you to log in to the Xilinx Download and Entitlement site and generate and install a Full license key to activate full access to the core.
  • Regenerate the core with the Full license key and reprocess your design through bitstream generation to activate full operation of the core without a hardware timeout.
