The OPB to DCR Bridge is an interface between the On-Chip Peripheral and the Device Control Register Bus (DCR). It is used to translate transactions received on the OPB slave interface into DCR master operations. Its design utilizes an Intellectual Property InterFace (IPIF) module to abstract OPB transactions into a simple SRAM style protocol making it easier to design. The advantage of using this bridge instead of the CPU to control the DCR bus is that it provides a memory mapped interface as opposed to the special instructions to be used with the DCR. This IP core is one of more than 20 IP cores that are part of the Embedded Development Kit.

Key Features

  • Increased timing flexibility in systems where the OPB clock is slower than CPU clock
  • Allows other master devices other than CPU to access the DCR bus
  • Translates transactions received on its OPB slave interface into DCR master operations
