DSP Solution Elements

7-Series FPGAs Deliver Lowest Power, Highest Performance

The 7 Series comprises three new FPGA families that deliver breakthrough power, performance, and design portability. 28nm process and design innovations deliver a breakthrough 50% reduction in power consumption and provide a significant power advantage over previous generation FPGAs. A unified architecture preserves IP investment and speeds design migration. ISE® Design Suite 13 helps designers get products to market faster and with high quality. The 7 series FPGAs now deliver integration beyond digital with Analog Mixed Signal (AMS) technology, providing simple analog monitoring to more complex analog signal processing, resulting in lower system cost, smaller area, and increased reliability. These families are the foundation for Xilinx next-generation domain-optimized and market-specific Targeted Design Platforms.

Artix-7 - Industry's Lowest Cost and Power

Artix™-7 FPGAs deliver the lowest power and lowest cost to address high-volume markets. This family is one of three product families built on a common 28nm architecture designed for maximum power efficiency and offers over two times the capacity, 30% higher performance, 50% lower power consumption -- and logic up to 350K logic cell density at lower price points than Spartan®-6 FPGAs. The Artix-7 family establishes a new standard for best cost for higher speed interfaces, including memories and transceivers. Artix-7 FPGAs further reduce system cost with the smallest footprint packages, leveraging wire bond chip-scale BGA technology. The Artix-7 device family includes devices with up to 1,306 GMACs of DSP performance for symmetric filtering.

Kintex-7 - Industry's Best Price-Performance

Kintex-7 FPGAs establish a new category of FPGAs with high-end performance at less than half the price. The Kintex-7 family is one of three product families built on a common 28nm architecture designed for maximum power efficiency and delivers a 2x price-performance improvement while consuming 50% less power compared to previous generation FPGAs. Kintex-7 FPGAs offer high-density logic, high-performance serial connectivity, memory, and DSP, plus Analog Mixed Signal all to enable higher system-level performance and the next level of integration. These capabilities allow for continued innovation and differentiation in designs at volume price points. The Virtex-7 device family includes devices with up to 1,920 DSP48E1 slices that combined deliver up to 2,845 GMACs of DSP performance for symmetric filtering.

Virtex-7 Industry's Highest System Performance

Virtex®-7 FPGAs are optimized for advanced systems requiring the highest performance and highest bandwidth connectivity. The Virtex-7 family is one of three product families built on a common 28nm architecture designed for maximum power efficiency and delivers 2x higher system performance and 50% lower power consumption than previous generation FPGAs. The Virtex-7 FPGA family delivers up to 2 million logic cells, 67Mbits of internal memory, 4.5 Tera-MACS DSP throughput, 2.8 Tb/s serial bandwidth, and fully integrated Analog Mixed Signal capability, Virtex-7 FPGAs are ideally suited for highest performance wireless, wired, and broadcast infrastructure equipment, aerospace and defense systems, high-performance computing, as well as ASIC prototyping and emulation. The Virtex-7 device family includes devices with up to 3,600 DSP48E1 slices that deliver up to 5,335 GMACs of DSP performance for symmetric filtering.

Xilinx offers DSP design flows integrated into our DSP Targeted Design Platforms tailored to the unique needs of hardware, algorithm and traditional processor based DSP designers. Supporting all mainstream DSP design entry methods to ensure productivity.

ISE® Design Suite: DSP Edition forms the foundation of all DSP design flows and includes features, technologies and DSP-specific IP that enable these design flows. Developers with little FPGA design experience can quickly create production quality FPGA implementations of DSP algorithms.

Model Based Design - MATLAB / Simulink

ISE Design Suite: DSP Edition includes System Generator for DSP™™, the industry's leading high-level tool for designing high-performance DSP systems using FPGAs. System Generator enables high-level model-based designs to be created using MathWorks™ ™MATLAB and Simulink and provides automatic fixed or floating-point hardware generation, co-simulation and system integration into RTL or embedded systems.

C/C++ Based DSP Design

Vivado™™ High-Level Synthesis accelerates design implementation by enabling C, C++ and System C specifications to be directly targeted into FPGAs without the need to manually create RTL. This provides system and design architects alike with a faster and more robust way of delivering quality designs.

RTL Based DSP Design

ISE Design Suite: DSP Edition includes DSP specific IP and verification functionality that accelerates RTL development. An extensive library of device optimized DSP IP can be used with RTL to quickly assemble DSP designs that deliver high quality of results without requiring extensive FPGA design experience. DSP algorithms implemented in RTL can be verified from within DSP specific simulation environments such as MATLAB/Simulink or C/C++.

Xilinx provides an extensive set of highly optimized DSP IP that can be used in both RTL and Simulink based design flows. Xilinx IP allows designers to create device optimized FPGA implementations that commonly use DSP algorithms to rapidly create high quality designs.
