XILINX VIRTEX SERIES SURPASSES $4B IN REVENUE

Company’s Virtex family best-selling FPGAs of all time

MONTEREY, Calif., - February 28, 2006 - At the Globalpress Summit 2006, Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced that the company has achieved cumulative revenues totaling more than $4B for its Virtex TM FPGA series family, representing more than 3X in sales over competing silicon architectures.

The company also noted that rapid adoption of its newest 90nm platform FPGAs was a key contributor to peak revenues of $450M and a record 59 percent share of the FPGA market in the December quarter. This reflects the largest market share gain and largest delta in total revenues for Xilinx in a single quarter versus its competition. To date, the company has generated more than 2.5 times the 90nm sales of its nearest competitor and shipped more than 10 million 90nm devices.

“Our investment in building integrated sophisticated system-level features into Virtex Platform FPGAs and aggressively moving to the next node with each new generation is paying off for today’s designers,” added Erich Goetting, vice president and general manager of the Advanced Products Division. “Customer demand is on a steady ramp for applications requiring high-speed DSP, integrated IBM PowerPC processor cores and multi-gigabit serial transceivers. Increasingly at the ‘heart of the system,’ Virtex FPGAs have become the premier platform for a wide range of designs for high-performance applications ranging from wireless base stations, networking and telecom infrastructure, and video and audio broadcast equipment to aerospace and defense, security, and industrial control.”

With the Virtex-4 90nm FPGA family, designers have a choice of three domain-optimized platforms and a total of 17 devices. A multi-platform approach makes it possible for engineers to select the optimal mix of resources to achieve the highest functionality and breakthrough performance at the lowest cost.
