FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
XILINX AND THE AIDS COALITION SILICON VALLEY HOST
‘UNMASK THE MYSTERIES’ FUND RAISING EVENT
Mardi Gras Gala and Awards Ceremony to benefit local HIV/AIDS service providers
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 17, 2006 –Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX), and the AIDS Coalition Silicon Valley (ACSV) today announced the second annual ‘Unmasks the Mysteries’ Mardi Gras Gala and Awards of Distinction event, scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, May 20 at the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara. Building on last year’s very successful inaugural event, Xilinx chairman, president and CEO Wim Roelandts will join other Silicon Valley industry leaders to host the event. The evening is designed to bring together business, civic leaders and supporters of the AIDS Coalition to unmask the facts of this devastating disease and to generate critical funding necessary to support community service providers.
“The AIDS pandemic is a global crisis – over 8,000 people die every day from this disease and fund raising efforts throughout the past few years have considerably dwindled,” said Roelandts. “The funds raised from this event are vital to local AIDS service organizations that provide the much needed support network for Silicon Valley AIDS patients. While the San Francisco Walk for AIDS raises considerable dollars, none of the funds generated is earmarked for Santa Clara County. Without concerted efforts by local community and industry leaders, these local agencies would be forced to close their doors.”
The Mardi Gras type celebration features a gallery of the many unique masks created specifically for the event by various celebrities, individuals and participating companies. Proceeds from the event, which also features a silent auction, benefit nine local HIV/AIDS agencies. These groups reach more than 30,000 people annually with their HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness programs and more than 5,000 people through direct services and outreach. To purchase tickets (priced at $100) or to obtain more information about the event, visit www.unmaskthemysteries.com or call (408) 451-9255.
The annual ‘Unmask the Mysteries’ of AIDS fundraiser is organized by ACSV which also organizes the annual Walk for AIDS in San Jose. “The Gala is designed to appeal to Silicon Valley industry and community leaders who care about AIDS. Since all costs are covered by the generous donations of our corporate sponsors, we expect all proceeds from the event to benefit local agencies,” said Paul Boneberg, executive director of ACSV.
Xilinx, whose commitment to the fight against AIDS in Silicon Valley spans over 16 years, joins additional Silicon Valley based sponsors including Broadcast Media Partner NBC11, Applied Materials, NVIDIA, SanDisk, UMC, KLA Tencor, Hallmark Construction, JPMorganChase, The ALIST.org, Ruckus Wireless, Synplicity, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, NORCAMP Corporation and many others.
