SAN JOSE, Calif., January 23, 2007 – Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced that Chairman, President and CEO Wim Roelandts will host a Global Educational Ecosystem reception today from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to celebrate achievements of local K-12 educators in San Jose neighborhood schools over the past year in partnership with non-profit groups, Xilinx volunteers and community leaders. In 2006, Xilinx provided more than $135K in funding and services to public schools near the company’s San Jose headquarters – including Oster Elementary, Union Middle School and Leigh High School – as part of a pilot program being expanded in 2007 to include five additional neighborhood schools at Xilinx sites worldwide (Longmont, CO; Albuquerque, NM; Nashua, NH; Dublin, Ireland; and Singapore). At the reception, Roelandts will outline the company’s vision and roadmap for transforming science and technology education in the 21st Century through dedicated partnerships between educators, community leaders, corporations and non-profit organizations. Total annual funding for the Xilinx Global Educational Ecosystem is nearly $500K. More than 75 percent of grants are dedicated to core science and technology programs, with 25 percent focused on enrichment programs (arts, social studies, health education, community services, etc.). Hands-on volunteer services provided by Xilinx employees and educational ecosystem partners are a pivotal element of the program’s success. Global Educational Ecosystem representatives attending this week’s event are: Almaden Valley Counseling Services, Campbell Union School District (Leigh High School), Junior Achievement, Positive Coaching Alliance, RAFT (Resource Area for Teachers), Santa Clara University, TheatreWorks, Union School District (Oster Elementary School, Union Middle School), and Youth Science Institute. For more than 10 years, Xilinx has provided funding and services to its neighborhood school, Oster Elementary, near the company's San Jose, California headquarters. The support encompasses a variety of high-impact programs, such as Junior Achievement, Rolling Readers, one-on-one tutoring, and a robotics program hosted at the Xilinx campus. The company’s launch of a Global Educational Ecosystem Program marks the expansion of this program to include selected K-12 schools worldwide.
