XILINX AND EV ENGINEERING DELIVER MHZ CO-SIMULATION WITH VIRTEX-II
TECHNOLOGY
Based on the advanced Virtex-IITM FPGAs ZeBu accelerates co-simulation
of designs driven by Verilog/VHDL/C/C++/SystemC testbenches
PARIS, France, April 22, 2002-Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) and Emulation
and Verification Engineering (EVE), SARL, a French EDA startup specializing
in the creation of advanced verification products and provider of
engineering services, teamed up to offer a family of high-performance
co-simulation platforms, called ZeBu, for designs that fit in the
high-density Virtex-II X2CV6000TM FPGA.
"Platform FPGAs, such as the Virtex-II devices represent a
major advancement in the evolution of programmable logic devices
and we are pleased to offer a unique and flexible validation platform
for these high-performance devices," said Luc Burgun, CEO and
president of EVE. "We believe that customers incorporating
our design validation technology based on Xilinx's Virtex-II devices
will be able to speed up the verification cycle by three to four
orders of magnitude compared with the existing technologies."
Built on a PCI board, ZeBu covers a broad spectrum of verification
needs such as H/W debugging, regression testing, S/W debugging,
System debugging, Co-modeling, and even reconfigurable computing.
"The combination of EVE co-simulation technology with our Virtex-II
technology provides Xilinx users with access to a high-performance,
cost-effective verification solution," said Rich Sevcik, senior
vice president FPGA Products at Xilinx. "This solution enables
our users to dramatically increase the designer productivity."
Launched at DATE2002 in Paris, ZeBu received a significant endorsement
from five major electronic giants who signed up for an evaluation.
Pricing and availability
By choosing the Virtex-II, EVE has linked the design capacity of
its ZeBu platform to the state-of-the-art FPGA family roadmap. ZeBu
ZV-6000 will begin shipping in May 2002, priced at $49,000 (U.S.).
In October 2002, EVE will introduce the second member of the ZeBu
family based on the Virtex XC2V8000TM.
About the Virtex-II Device
The Virtex-II XC2V6000 FPGA, is the largest field programmable device
available from Xilinx. Using an abundant supply of internal logic
resources, such as 67,000 look-up tables (LUT), 67,000 registers,
144 18x18 multipliers, and 144 18 kbits of SRAM (totaling approximately
six million systems gates), the FPGA can contain large designs instead
of partitioning the design into smaller blocks. The Virtex-II X2CV6000
FPGA, available in various packages, can support more than 1100
I/O pins to allow the mapping of I/O-intensive designs and the creation
of a large number of probes on internal signals. The Xilinx ISE
software provides also outstanding compilation time performance,
while offering ways to observe in real time any internal signals
based on dynamic probes.
About Emulation and Verification Engineering
EV Engineering, SARL, offers innovative IP and H/W-assisted verification
solutions and verification engineering services that accelerate
the design of complex integrated circuits, prevalent in the communications,
wireless, networking, computer, and consumer product markets. The
company, launched in 2000 by emulation and verification design
tool experts, is privately held and is headquartered at 2 bis,
