INDUSTRY VISIONARY VINT CERF AND INDUSTRY LEADER DAVE HOUSE TO HEADLINE
METRO OPTICAL NETWORKING FORUM
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 10, 2002 - Xilinx, Inc., (NASDAQ:XLNX) today announced that Vinton Cerf, senior vice president of Architecture and Technology at WorldCom, and Dave House, president, chief executive officer and chairman
of Allegro Networks will be featured speakers at the Xilinx sponsored Metro-Optical Networking Forum. Cerf, widely known as one of the "Fathers of the Internet" for co-designing TCP/IP and the architecture of the Internet, will deliver the
keynote speech. During his address, Cerf will discuss metro area networks from a service provider perspective. House, who has 35 years of experience in the industry, was also president of Nortel and Bay Networks. Prior to that, House was
a senior executive at Intel Corporation for 22 years and is credited with creating and launching the "Intel Inside" campaign. House will be discussing the challenges and demands of today's edge networks and will introduce multi-router technology
and is role in revolutionizing routing and routing services for carriers.
The forum will take place on July 25, 2002 at the
Santa Clara Convention Center and simultaneously in over 40 locations
across North America. The free all-day event is the first to address
the challenges of designing and developing products for the metro
area and edge access networks. Attendees will hear first hand from
industry experts on where this dynamic market is headed, as well

Vinton G. Cerf is senior vice president of Architecture and Technology for WorldCom. Cerf's team of architects and engineers design advanced networking frameworks including Internet-based solutions for delivering a combination of data, information,
voice and video services. Widely known as one of the "Fathers of the Internet," Cerf co-designed the TCP/IP protocols and architecture of the Internet. In December 1997, President Clinton presented the U.S. National Medal of Technology to
Cerf for co-founding and developing the Internet. He holds a BS degree in Mathematics from Stanford University and MS and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from University of California Los Angeles.

Dave House, president, chief executive officer and chairman of Allegro Networks, a privately-held data communications equipment startup headquartered in San Jose. House has over 35 years of experience in the high technology and communications
industries. Most recently, House was the president of Nortel Networks, joining the company through Nortel's $8 billion acquisition of Bay Networks in 1998. During his 22 years at Intel, House is credited with creating and launching the "Intel
Inside" campaign. Prior to Intel, House held management positions at companies including Microdata, Honeywell and Raytheon. Born in Muskegon, Michigan, House earned a BSEE from Michigan Technological University and an MSEE from Northeastern
University in Boston.
