FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
XILINX TEAMS UP WITH NOHAU AND MICRIUM TO OFFER DESIGNERS
NEW CAPABILITIES FOR MICROBLAZE BASED EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
The joint partnership between Xilinx, Nohau and Micrium provides embedded
developers the necessary tools to help bring their products to market
more quickly and efficiently
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 23, 2003 - Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) today announced
that Nohau Corp., a world leading supplier of in-circuit emulators, has
developed a new USB to JTAG-based debugger featuring µC/OS-II support
from Micrium, Inc., a leading provider of high quality embedded software
solutions, for the MicroBlaze 32-bit soft processor core from Xilinx.
Nohau's powerful macro-based debugger, called Seehau, controls the EMUL-PC/USB-JTAG
hardware. With Nohau's Project Manager, engineers can greatly reduce the
edit-compile-debug loop time. A "soft" trace module is included
in the tool greatly enhancing the search for "hard-to-find"
bugs.
"I believe that soft cores in FPGAs have the potential to change
the way embedded systems are designed in the future. However, without
excellent development tools, the design process is too difficult,"
said Olle Hallengren, President of Nohau. "Nohau's and Micrium's
tools are contributing to ease this process."
Micrium's µC/OS-II is a highly portable RTOS that meets the requirements
of safety critical systems and has been used in avionics, medical, industrial,
data communications, instrumentation and many other types of applications.
"Micrium is pleased to partner with Nohau and Xilinx to extend the
availability of our very popular and robust RTOS to the embedded community,"
said Jean J. Labrosse, President of Micrium. "The source code for
uC/OS-II is exceptionally clean and well commented which allowed it to
be ported to the MicroBlaze in just a few days. Nohau's Seehau Kernel
Awareness provides visibility into µC/OS-II which greatly helps
embedded developers isolate complex problems."
"We are pleased to collaborate with Nohau and Micrium to offer familiar
and best-in-class debug tools and µC/OS support, respectively for
our MicroBlaze users," said Mark Aaldering, Senior Director of IP
Solution Division at Xilinx. "These tools will help accelerate development
time."
Pricing and Availability
The Embedded Development Kit is available immediately with promotional
pricing at $495 until the end of 2003. The MicroBlaze soft processor core
is included in the EDK. For more information about the EDK and MicroBlaze,
