XILINX AND TERACROSS COLLABORATE TO INTRODUCE TERABIT
PACKET SCHEDULING SOLUTION
TeraCross GLIMPSTM switching
technology, implemented in Xilinx Virtex-IITM
FPGAs, offers advanced high-performance, low-chip count solutions
for networking OEMs
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 3, 2002, Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:
XLNX) and TeraCross, Inc. today announced a collaboration to deliver
the GLIMPS TXS-1200 and TXS-1400 schedulers as part of a low-chip
count, high-performance packet switching solution for high-end
switches and routers. Implemented using the Xilinx Virtex-II FPGA
family, the TXS-1200 and TXS-1400 respectively offer 320 Gb/s
and 640 Gbp/s of port bandwidth switching capacity. Advanced features
include extremely low latency, inherent Quality of Service provisioning,
and bandwidth allocation to support Time Division Multiplexing
and Internet Protocol traffic.
TeraCross offers the GLIMPS-1000 switch fabric reference
platform, which incorporates the high-speed data path controlled
by the GLIMPS scheduler. The GLIMPS chip set addresses the growing
need for performance and advanced services in high-end metro,
core, and storage area network applications. Implementing the
GLIMPS chip set in Xilinx Virtex-II FPGA devices yields unprecedented
flexibility for interfacing to various complementary networking
building blocks.
“We are pleased with TeraCross’ decision to use
Virtex-II FPGAs as the foundation for its GLIMPS scheduler,” said
Umesh Bhat, senior manager Partnerships at Xilinx. “This decision
clearly demonstrates that Virtex-II FPGAs are the platform of
choice for next-generation Intellectual Property being developed
for high-performance networking systems.”
“The Virtex-II provides a critical, cost-effective
implementation platform for the GLIMPS scheduler,” said Kurt Busch,
vice president of Marketing at TeraCross. “With Xilinx’s commitment
to the high-end switching market, we can offer customers unprecedented
performance while, at the same time, significantly reducing design
cycles for networking OEMs.”
The companies also announced that Teracross has joined the Xilinx
Reference Design Alliance Program. The goal of the program is
to support and promote interoperability between Xilinx and ASSP
vendors. For more information on the program and the Reference
Design visit http://www.xilinx.com/company/reference_design/teracross.htm
