XILINX GROWS CPLD MARKET SEGMENT SHARE, PASSES LATTICE AND TAKES OVER # 2 POSITION

Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today confirmed it further gained CPLD segment market share during the December ending fiscal quarter. CPLD momentum has clearly shifted in favor of Xilinx. In the fourth quarter of calendar year 2004, Xilinx CPLD sales figures were approximately 10 percent of total revenues. Additionally, this coincides with 16 consecutive annualized quarters of market segment share growth for Xilinx CPLDs. With continuing design wins in consumer, communications, storage and server markets, Xilinx believes it is now the second largest worldwide CPLD supplier.

Combined Growth in XC9500 & CoolRunner Series Drives Market Expansion
Design activity continues across all of the Xilinx CPLD families, lead by the XC9500XL and CoolRunner-II devices. The increase in CPLD market segment share has been driven by success across many accounts and applications, not just a few large design wins. This milestone also marks a dramatic acceleration in 1.8 volt design activity, with CoolRunner-II revenue growing more than 50 percent quarter to quarter. CoolRunner-II products continue to be rapidly adopted into portable consumer electronics markets, providing the low power and advanced features required by designers to improve their time to market and reduce overall product cost.

Xilinx offers the broadest and lowest cost CPLD portfolio to address the full spectrum of design requirements. The XC9500 series of CPLDs offers the widest range of supply voltages, densities and temperature ranges. Across all XC9500 families, the devices provide 12 percent more logic capacity and lower prices than competing devices. This additional logic capacity permits designers to reduce their total costs.
