SAN DIEGO and SAN JOSE, Calif., June 26, 2002 - Xilinx, Inc and Memec Design today introduced a complete solution for developing programmable systems designs and applications based on the new high performance, industry-leading Xilinx Virtex-II™ Pro FPGA family. The Memec Design Virtex-II Pro Development Kit allows designers to quickly investigate the embedded PowerPC™ processor and multi-gigabit serial transceivers included in Virtex-II Pro FPGAs. The low cost, easy to use reference platform is the first development kit offered that supports the Xilinx Virtex-II Pro FPGA, and is available from these regional divisions of The Memec Group: Insight in the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe; Impact in Europe and the United Kingdom; and Memec in Japan. The Memec Design kit includes either the Virtex-II Pro 2VP4 or 2VP7 FPGA; four Rocket I/O transceivers, SDRAM, a SystemACE™ module interface; Memec Design's P160 expansion slot, an LCD display; and other supporting circuits. The kit also includes the Xilinx Virtex-II Pro Development Kit CD, which contains a GNU-based software suite, and system configuration tools. Xilinx ISE software, programming cable and SystemACE module are available as kit options.
