FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

XILINX AND STMICROELECTRONICS COMBINE FPGA AND MEMORY EXPERTISE TO DELIVER PLATFORM FLASH SOLUTION
No compromise FPGA Configuration Solution offers high density and low cost

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 29, 2003 -Xilinx Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX), today announced the immediate production availability of its Platform Flash family of FPGA Configuration Solutions. Designed in collaboration with STMicroelectronics, the Xilinx Platform Flash PROMs provide drop-in configuration for all Xilinx FPGAs, including the flagship Spartan™-3 Platform FPGA and Virtex-II Pro™ Platform FPGA families. The Platform Flash family offers designers a no-compromise solution by combining low cost, high density, in-system programmability, a small footprint, and industry-standard interfaces in a single device. Xilinx recommends the Platform Flash family for any new Xilinx FPGA designs.

Collaboration of Industry Leaders Benefits FPGA Designers

The goal for the new configuration solution was to meet the challenging demand for a single family with all the high-performance features needed to configure a wide range of FPGAs at a very low cost. In order to achieve that goal, Xilinx partnered with Flash Memory leader STMicroelectronics early on in the product-planning phase.

"The Platform Flash family demonstrates the impressive results industry leaders can achieve when they collaborate to deliver a best-in class-solution," said Mustafa Veziroglu, general manager of the Configuration Solution Division at Xilinx. "This is the first result of the powerful partnership between Xilinx and STMicroelectronics. We will continue to work together to develop innovative solutions for FPGA designers."

"The Xilinx FPGA expertise helped us to jointly define the right product for the market," said Reza Kazerounian, vice president and general manager of the Programmable System Memory Division at STMicroelectronics. "Based on our substantial market presence in non-volatile memories, we provided the design expertise and state of the art 0.15u flash technology capable of delivering high density and high performance products. ST's seasoned team of system and IC designers rapidly integrated the Xilinx FPGA configuration management expertise, developing a cost-effective, high quality product."

Under the terms of the collaboration, Xilinx retains the sole rights for marketing and selling the Platform Flash devices and STMicroelectronics provides a turnkey manufacturing solution.

Pricing and availability
The 1, 2 and 4 Mbit solutions, XCF01S, XCF02S, and XCF04S respectively are available today with pricing for the XCF01S at $1.05 for 100K units in 2005. Xilinx ISE development tools support the entire Platform Flash family. Programming support is available from Xilinx programming hardware as well as many suppliers of device programmers; automatic test equipment system and boundary scan equipment.

About Xilinx Configuration Solutions
Xilinx Platform Flash PROMs comply with the industry standard IEEE1532 interface, allowing designers to use existing equipment to program and test the PROMs. With the higher density devices, designers can program multiple designs into a single PROM, allowing one PROM to support multiple FPGAs in a daisy-chain configuration, thereby reducing part count and component costs. The high-density devices also offer 'Design Revisioning' capabilities, allowing customers to use the same board level product and components for multiple applications, reducing manufacturing and inventory costs.
