XILINX VIRTEX SERIES REACHES TWO BILLION REVENUE MILESTONE
Broad adoption of Virtex-II PRO FPGAs with over 10,000 customer
engagements
drive further growth of leading FPGA line
SAN JOSE, Calif., August 20, 2003 - Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX), the
world's leading programmable logic supplier, today announced it has reached
two billion dollars in cumulative revenue for its Virtex line of FPGAs.
The milestone marks the first product series from a programmable logic
company to reach the two billion-dollar mark in less than five years. The
Virtex brand has been the number one choice of designers worldwide based
on its industry-leading capacity, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
Xilinx has continued this trend with its Virtex-II Pro line of FPGAs, with
steady adoption in many leading-edge applications, among them cellular
base stations, high-end networking and storage equipment, broadcast video,
and airport luggage scanners.
""Our technology leadership has enabled Xilinx to deliver a unique combination
of advanced features, density, performance and cost-effectiveness in Virtex
series FPGAs. The marketplace has agreed, making Virtex devices the most
popular FPGAs in the world", said Erich Goetting, vice president and general
manager of the Advanced Products Group at Xilinx. "Xilinx is still the
only vendor to ship production FPGAs on 130nm, 300mm wafers, allowing our
Virtex-II Pro FPGAs to extend that value leadership as evidenced by over
10,000 customer engagements and rapidly increasing revenues for the family."
Virtex-II Pro devices are the world's only FPGA to offer multiple 3.125
Gbps serial transceivers and embedded PowerPC processors. Xilinx includes
these multigigabit serial transceivers and PowerPC CPUs at no additional
charge, providing unequaled capability and value for today's system design
requirements.
