FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
XILINX REPORTS FPGA INDUSTRY RECORD SHIPMENTS
OF MULTI-GIGABIT TRANSCEIVERS
Company accelerates usage of high-speed serial connectivity through
broad adoption of Virtex-II Pro family
SAN JOSE, Calif., November 10, 2003 Xilinx, Inc., (NASDAQ: XLNX),
the world's leading programmable logic supplier, today announced
it has achieved record-breaking shipments of its RocketIO multi-gigabit
transceivers (MGTs). Within the recent September quarter, Xilinx
shipped over two hundred thousand MGTs, ten times that of the nearest
competitor, and seven times more than all FPGA companies combined.
Xilinx RocketIO MGTs support 622 Mbps to 3.125 Gbps and are an integral
component of the Virtex-II Pro Platform FPGA family. Today's announcement
is a testament to the industry's broad adoption of Xilinx high-speed
serial connectivity solutions and the trend towards this critical
technology across a wide range of applications and markets.
"High-speed serial solutions will ultimately be deployed in
nearly every electronic product imaginable - the inherent scalability
and cost advantages make this technology imperative for current
and next-generation telecommunications, networking, and storage
applications," said Erich Goetting, vice president and general
manager of the Advanced Product Group at Xilinx.
"Xilinx recognized this trend early on, and as a result leads
the industry in implementing and providing the necessary support
and infrastructure to design in multi-gigabit serial technology,"
added Goetting.
