Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced availability of Dr. Howard Johnson's lab measurements and simulations validating the advanced packaging benefits of Virtex™-4 FPGAs for controlling crosstalk and achieving breakthrough system performance. Dr. Johnson's analysis reveals a 7x reduction in system crosstalk, compared to competing 90nm FPGAs, for wide single-ended I/O interfaces such as DDR2, DDR, QDR-II, and RLDRAM-II. Dr. Johnson discussed innovations to minimize signal integrity problems in high-performance FPGA-based systems during a live webcast, March 1, which was attended by a record breaking number of viewers. In the seminar, Dr. Johnson explained how a well-designed IC package is critical for controlling system noise, due to fast edge rates and simultaneously switching outputs.
