XILINX VIRTEX SERIES SURPASSES THREE BILLION
IN REVENUE
World's most widely used FPGAs achieve cumulative
revenue of $3B -
Best selling FPGA series of all time; over 12x nearest competitor
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 26, 2005 - Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX),
the world's leading programmable logic supplier, today announced
it has achieved record revenue of $3 billion for its Virtex FPGA
series. Based on their industry-leading capacity, performance, and
cost-effectiveness, Xilinx® Virtex FPGAs are the number one
choice of designers worldwide. With consistent evolution of the
FPGA architecture, Xilinx Virtex FPGAs have continued to expand
in usage since their introduction in 1997 to become the premier
Platform FPGA solution in the industry. With today's 90nm Virtex-4
multi-platform FPGA family, designers of logic, embedded processing,
DSP, and high-speed serial applications can select from 17 devices
and three domain-optimized platforms. A multi-platform approach
makes it possible for customers to select the optimal mix of resources
for their application to achieve the highest functionality and breakthrough
performance at the lowest cost.
"Since its initial introduction, the Virtex series has evolved
to become a true platform for programmable systems used by designers
in applications ranging from wireless base station and other communications
equipment, to high-end consumer and automotive," said Erich
Goetting, vice president and general manager of the Advanced Products
Group at Xilinx. "The latest generation Virtex-4 family is
the only programmable platform in the world that provides users
with logic, embedded processing, DSP capabilities and high-speed
serial transceivers, all supported by complete hardware and software
design tools and intellectual property cores."
