Xilinx Announces Release of Free ISE WebPACK 6.2i
Delivering up to 50% Faster Spartan-3 Design Performance

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 9, 2004 – Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX)
today announced ISE WebPACK 6.2i – the company’s latest
version of its free, web-downloadable development system. The new
version of ISE WebPACK 6.2i boosts performance of Xilinx’s
low-cost Spartan™-3 family with new “-5” speed
and enhanced “-4” speed grades. The combination of ISE
WebPACK 6.2i and Spartan-3 FPGA features offers up to 50% better
performance, including faster block RAM access speeds and embedded
multipliers running at greater than 225 MHz. ISE WebPACK 6.2i is
available for download now from www.xilinx.com/ise/webpack6.
ISE WebPACK offers local-clock support for Spartan-3 FPGAs to make
high-speed memory interface design faster and easier. With 15% better
device utilization than competing solutions, designers can now target
smaller, lower cost FPGAs while meeting performance goals and lowering
overall project costs. Additionally, Spartan-3 FPGAs clock-to-output
times are 35% to 40% faster than the previous generation ISE WebPACK
tool. These performance improvements combined with industry-leading
cost advantages, are fueling the rapid replacement of ASICs and
ASSPs with Spartan-3 FPGAs in high volume applications.
