XILINX VOTED MOST RESPECTED PUBLIC FABLESS COMPANY
BY PEERS AT ANNUAL INDUSTRY EVENT

Event included tribute to Xilinx co-founder, Bernard Vonderschmitt,
for his significant contributions to the fabless business model

SAN JOSE, Calif., December 12, 2002-Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) was named "Most Respected Public Fabless Company" by members of the Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA) at the annual FSA 2002 Awards Dinner Celebration on December 5, 2002 in Santa Clara. In addition, Xilinx's co-founder and chairman, Mr. Bernard Vonderschmitt was honored with the Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award. The annual event, which gathered more than 1,600 electronics industry executives, recognizes fabless companies that have shown outstanding success, vision and promise during the past year.

"Winning the Most Respected Public Fabless Company award is especially meaningful because it comes directly from our peers, partners and customers," said Wim Roelandts, president and CEO of Xilinx and chairman of the Fabless Semiconductor Association. "Xilinx is proud of its heritage and the vision set by our founders. We've always placed a strong emphasis on partnering and embracing new technology. It is our focus on these principles that has enabled us to continue to move forward even in especially difficult economic times. We're also inspired by the turnout of this event and the numerous other successes highlighted, which provide a silver lining in the current industry downturn."

The Most Respected Fabless Company award is selected by FSA members who chose one public and one private company they most respect in terms of products, vision, strategy and future opportunities. Out of the 75 public fabless companies in the world, three nominees were identified based on the following criteria: market capitalization, EPS, revenue growth and 2002 revenue estimates.

The event also included a special tribute to Bernard Vonderschmitt as the 2002 recipient of the Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award. This award recognizes individuals, such as its namesake, for their outstanding achievements and unique contributions to the fabless sector, exemplifying how their vision and global leadership has transformed and elevated the entire semiconductor industry.

A special video montage paid tribute to Vonderschmitt by tracking his long and accomplished career. Highlights included his 25-year career at RCA where his work in color television helped define that space and where he still holds 13 patents, to his founding of Xilinx, where he and partner Ross Freeman essentially established the market for field programmable gate array devices. Vonderschmitt and his fellow founders are also credited with pioneering the fabless semiconductor business model over 18 years ago. He was praised for his visionary and tenacious spirit, strong philosophy about new technology and new business concepts, and generosity for philanthropic causes.

"Increasingly, success in the technology business requires both an intense focus as well as a willingness to partner and accept new business concepts," Vonderschmitt said. "I am honored to accept this award but also recognize that many of my accomplishments weren't made by me alone. I am very grateful for the industry pioneers that came before me and the many employees that worked with me to build such an exciting, important and rapidly changing industry.
