SAN JOSE, Calif., May 6, 2002 - XILINX, Inc., (NASDAQ:XLNX), and UPS Logistics Group today announced the opening of a new distribution and order fulfillment center in Singapore. This move supports Xilinx's strategy to improve service levels and response times to customers worldwide while outsourcing logistics functions. With its newly re-engineered supply chain, Xilinx expects to improve response time to customers by 15-30 percent in the region and provide cost reductions across the supply chain. 

"This is a strategy that Xilinx has envisioned for a number of years and UPS Logistics Group has the proven capability to meet our supply chain requirements," said Randy Ong, vice president of Worldwide Operations at Xilinx. "We see this business relationship as a key support to improving our customers' service requirements and as a cornerstone in our outsourcing strategy with leading-edge providers."

With the distribution center located in Singapore and the supply chain management capability of UPS Logistics Group, Xilinx expects to attain considerable inventory reductions. The environmentally-controlled facility will be operated by UPS Logistics Group in compliance with strict temperature, air quality and process requirements. 

The facility is located in the UE Tech Park. All product handling is performed in an anti-static environment, with special flooring, special clothing and tools for operators, and grounding of workstations
