FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EVENT ALERT
XILINX CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER TO DELIVER KEYNOTE
ADDRESS AT
2003 SOFTWARE DEFINED RADIO TECHNICAL CONFERENCE AND PRODUCT EXPOSITION
November 14, 2003
What: Ivo Bolsens, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer,
to deliver keynote address. Company to host FPGA signal processing
workshop.
Where: 2003 Software Defined Radio Technical Conference
and Product Exposition at the Disney Contemporary Resort, Orlando,
Florida
When: Monday, November 17, through Wednesday, November
19, 2003.
Xilinx today announced its involvement in the 2003 Software Defined
Radio Technical Conference and Product Exposition. This technical
conference and product exposition is focused on technology, standards,
and business activity related to software defined radio (SDR).
Participation by Xilinx includes:
- Keynote Address on the "The Future of Software Defined
Radio" by Ivo Bolsens, Vice President and Chief Technology
Officer of Xilinx
Tuesday, November 18, 8:30am - 9:20am
In his keynote address, Ivo Bolsens will discuss how FPGAs
are enabling SDR technology. With highly complex applications
demanding greater computational throughput, an increasingly
broad spectrum of demands are being put on SDRs. Bolsens will
discuss why FPGAs are the ideal solution for complex SDR applications,
allowing engineers to address the many variables of SDR technology.
He will explore how FPGAs are enabling SDRs to tackle a broader
class of wave forms and computational complexity, while providing
much needed flexibility and scalability. Bolsens will also shed
some light on how next generation FPGAs will address power and
partial reconfigurable capability requirements of the future.
- Technical Workshop on FPGA Signal Processing Presented by
Dr. Chris Dick and Dr. Jim Hwang of Xilinx
Monday, November 17, 1:15pm - 5:00pm
Join Dr. Chris Dick and Dr. Jim Hwang of Xilinx for a detailed
look at FPGA parallel processing for DSP. As semiconductors
become more complex and new milestones in transistor size and
performance are achieved, power consumption and heat are emerging
as limiting factors to the continued pace of chip design and
manufacturing. This course provides an overview of state-of-the-art
Xilinx platform FPGA technology and describes how these devices
are re-inventing the signal processor.
- Technical Paper Presentation
"FPGA Implementation of an OFDM Physical Layer" presented
by Dr. Chris Dick, Chief DSP Architect at Xilinx
Conference Session SW2
Tuesday, November 18, 1:30pm - 3:00pm
- Xilinx In-Booth Demonstration - Booth #15
Exhibit Hours
Tuesday, November 18
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (lunch sponsored by Xilinx), and 6:00 p.m.
- 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, November 19
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
OFDM Transceiver for Broadband and 4G Wireless
In booth #15, Xilinx will demonstrate a flexible and scaleable
implementation of an OFDM transceiver, necessary for a true
software-defined radio. Implementing the complex modulation
using Virtex-II FPGAs provides significant flexibility,
thereby enabling designs compatible with standards such as 802.11a
and 802.11g. Additionally, the demo will show how FPGA implementation
provides the scalability necessary for supporting complex systems
with data rates in the 100's MBPS range.
