XILINX APPOINTS INTEL EXECUTIVE TO VP OF OPERATIONS
POST
SAN JOSE, Calif., December 9, 2003 - Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX)
today announced the appointment of Boon C. (B.C.) Ooi to vice president
of worldwide operations. Ooi, 49, assumes responsibility for all
aspects of worldwide manufacturing operations, including supply
chain and supplier relationships, product testing and packaging.
He reports directly to Xilinx Chairman, President and CEO Wim Roelandts
at the company's headquarters in San Jose, California.
Ooi brings more than 25 years experience at Intel Corp. to his new
position, most recently as vice president of the corporate technology
group and director of operations. Ooi replaces veteran Xilinx executive
Randy Ong, who is taking a two-year sabbatical after more than 13
years with the company.
"We're delighted to welcome B.C. to Xilinx," said Roelandts.
"His experience and impressive track record at Intel are ideally
suited to lead worldwide operations, particularly at this important
stage of the company's growth. As Xilinx expands into new and exciting
mainstream application areas with programmable chips built on the
world's most advanced processes, operational and manufacturing efficiencies
will become an even more critical key to our success."
Over the course of his 26-year career at Intel, Ooi led large, worldwide
plant operations and managed supply chain processes, inventory controls
and relationships with contract electronic manufacturers. After
joining the company in 1976, Ooi was stationed overseas for ten
years and held a number of operational management positions, including
assembly operations manager, plant manager and general manager.
In 1986, Ooi moved to the United States, where he served as assistant
general manager of logic components manufacturing, director of component
planning, and plant manager for A4/T11 in Chandler, Arizona. As
plant manager, he was responsible for the start-up and establishment
of C4 as a volume assembly and test factory for Intel. In 1990,
he served as general manager for worldwide systems manufacturing,
with plants in Puerto Rico, Ireland, Washington, Malaysia and Oregon.
Prior to joining Intel, he worked as materials manager for Litronix
in Malaysia.
