FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
XILINX CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER TO KEYNOTE
90NM AND BEYOND SEMICO CONFERENCE
CTO Ivo Bolsen to discuss the challenges and opportunities
at the frontlines of 90nm and below
SAN JOSE, Calif., December 17, 2003 - Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX),
the world's leading programmable logic supplier, today announced
that it's Chief Technology Officer Ivo Bolsens will deliver a keynote
the 90nm and Beyond Semico Conference on Thursday, January 8, 2004,
at the Grand Formosa Regent Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan.
As part of the Semico Impact Conference Series, the all-day conference
will provide critical insight into the challenges and opportunities
associated with advanced process technologies for the semiconductor
industry. Leaders from companies such as Applied Materials, IBM,
UMC and Xilinx will discuss how emerging tools and services, intellectual
property, and advanced chips are unlocking the potential of advanced
process technologies at 90nm and below.
In his keynote Bolsens will discuss Xilinx's experience as a pioneer
in delivering the world's first 90nm FPGA - the Spartan-3 family.
Bolsens will explain how the regular and parallel structure of FPGAs
make them an ideal vehicle for adopting advance manufacturing technologies.
He will also discuss how the trend towards low cost, evolvable hardware
is driving the semiconductor industry to not only adopt advanced
manufacturing technologies, but develop innovative approaches to
silicon architectures to maximize their benefits. Bolsens will also
provide insight into what lies ahead for Xilinx as it continues
to pioneer 90nm and 300mm chip-making processes to take advantage
of the greatest cost reductions in recent semiconductor history.
"With the advent of the digital revolution, consumers are demanding
off-the-shelf products that can be personalized," said Ivo
Bolsens, vice president and CTO of Xilinx. "Now more than ever,
Xilinx is poised to meet this customer demand - or what I call the
'mass markets of one' - through a combination of process technology
and architectural innovations. Together, this has allowed us to
dramatically reduce the cost of FPGAs while providing the flexibility,
re-programmability, and capability necessary for the consumer market
place. I look forward to sharing our experiences in delivering 90nm
at the Semico conference. "
