XILINX RALLIES FOR THE WALK FOR AIDS SILICON
VALLEY
Company's Commitment to Silicon Valley AIDS Coalition
Spans 13 Years
SAN JOSE, Calif., October 13, 2004 - As the sole Red Ribbon sponsor
for the Walk for AIDS Silicon Valley, Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX),
today announced the company expects more than 300 walkers affiliated
with Xilinx will participate in the 15th annual Walk for AIDS Silicon
Valley, Sunday, October 17, 2004 at 9:00 a.m., Discovery Meadow,
downtown San Jose. The 300+ walkers, including Xilinx employees,
family and friends, will join more than 1,000 walkers united in
the Silicon Valley fight against HIV/AIDS. The Walk for AIDS Silicon
Valley is the only event assisting those living with HIV and AIDS
locally, as well as raising awareness about this disease within
the local Silicon Valley community. Interested participants can
sign up and raise funds on line at www.WFASV.kintera.org,
or contact Walk for AIDS Silicon Valley at 408-451-WALK.
"Our company has really taken the lead in this community effort
and I'm very proud of our track record for the Walk for AIDS Silicon
Valley," said Wim Roelandts, chairman and CEO at Xilinx. "The
Walk is a critical community cause. While the San Francisco Walk
for AIDS raises considerable dollars for AIDS programs in that city,
none of that is earmarked for Silicon Valley. Being involved really
reflects what Xilinx is all about as a company: giving back to others.
The Walk is also a lot of fun. I enjoy it every year!"
Xilinx's commitment to the fight against AIDS spans more than 13
years, commencing in 1990 with 10 walkers and $350 in sponsorship
donations. Since then, Xilinx has become a major sponsor and the
largest Silicon Valley corporate fundraiser with cumulative support
for the event involving more than 2,300 employees, family and friends
of Xilinx and raising more than $500,000 in donations. In addition,
Xilinx hosts a fundraising rally at its San Jose headquarters each
year to kick off the company's participation in the event.
Proceeds from the walk benefit local HIV/AIDS programs that reach
more than 30,000 people annually with education and information,
and more than 5,000 people through direct services. The 10K Walk
is the largest fundraising event for HIV/AIDS services and prevention
programs in Santa Clara County. Participants can walk individually
or put together a team (five or more walkers). With the collection
of pledges, walkers strive to earn prizes or become a member of
the Walk for AIDS Silicon Valley $500 Club and receive extra incentive
awards. For more information on the walk and getting involved, contact
Walk for AIDS Silicon Valley at 408-451-WALK, or visit the web site
at www.walkforaids.org.
