Xilinx Japan Announces Distributor
Agreement
with Ryoyo Electro Corporation
Company expands distributor channel network with fourth
distributor
Tokyo, Japan, March 16, 2004 — Xilinx K.K.,
the Japanese subsidiary of the world’s leading supplier of
programmable logic solutions, Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX), recently
entered into a distributor agreement with Ryoyo Electro Corporation.
Xilinx currently provides customer support in the Japanese market
through a three-distributor organization consisting of Tokyo Electron
Device Limited, Memec Japan K.K. and Shinko Shoji Co., Ltd. The
formation of a four-distributor organization will enable Xilinx
to further meet expanding demand for FPGA, CPLD and other programmable
logic devices in the Japanese market and to accelerate development
of new markets, such as digital consumer electronics and automotive.
Based on this new agreement with Xilinx, Ryoyo Electro has recently
formed a dedicated Xilinx sales force, which includes both sales
representatives and field application engineers (FAEs).
The complementary business philosophies of Xilinx and Ryoyo Electro
have led to the successful formation of the new distributor agreement.
Xilinx will leverage Ryoyo Electro’s extensive sales experience
in the distribution of leading-edge semiconductors made by domestic
and foreign chip manufacturers, as well as significant technical
support capabilities, and Ryoyo Electro will now be able to meet
its diversifying client needs by distributing Xilinx industry-leading
programmable logic devices.
President Kitajima of Xilinx K.K. commented, “Ryoyo Electro
has a proven track record of success selling and providing technical
support for leading-edge semiconductor companies such as Mitsubishi
Electric, Renesas Technology, Intel and Agilent Technologies. We
have great expectations that this agreement will lead to the development
of additional Xilinx customers in new areas, including digital consumer
electronics. Ryoyo Electro has thoroughly evaluated Xilinx’s
FPGA and CPLD products and firmly believes that our organization
will be able to respond to the diversifying needs of Japanese customers.”
Ryoyo Electro’s President Yoshihisa Shimada added, “The
Japanese ASIC market has seen a rapid advance in the shortening
of product lifetimes and development periods and this has greatly
changed customer needs. The programmable logic devices of Xilinx
are the perfect products for this market trend and possess great
potential. By adding Xilinx’s FPGA and CPLD products to our
existing product lineup, we are now able to provide our customers
with more value-added services. We would like to provide service
that will satisfy our Japanese customers by fusing the total support
ability we have cultivated over many years with the excellent product
strength of Xilinx.”
