XILINX ACHIEVES PLD INDUSTRY'S FIRST TL 9000
REGISTRATION,
ENABLES HIGHER QUALITY FPGA-BASED TELECOM SYSTEMS
SAN JOSE, Calif., April 20, 2004 - Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX),
the world leader in programmable logic (PLD), today announced it
has achieved TL 9000 Registration for Product Category 8.1 (Components)
making Xilinx the only PLD supplier in the semiconductor industry
to receive the telecommunications industry's premier quality management
system registration. The TL 9000 standard enables stakeholders throughout
the telecommunications supply chain to reduce overall costs and
increase competitiveness through standardization of quality system
requirements worldwide. The reportable performance metrics found
in TL 9000 provide a balanced set of measures and a system to communicate
and track results. This allows improved product and service quality
and streamlined documentation.
Xilinx joins the ranks of industry leaders including Cisco, Fujitsu,
Lucent Technologies, Nortel Networks and many other global organizations
with TL 9000 registrations. Xilinx' TL 9000 Product Category 8.1
Registration encompasses its corporate headquarters in San Jose,
California as well as the European headquarters in Dublin, Ireland.
The registration demonstrates that the processes involved in the
design, manufacture and testing of the Company's programmable logic
devices adhere to the quality system requirements of TL 9000. The
quality standard registration requires a third-party registrar to
confirm implementation of TL 9000 standards and subsequent continued
compliance.
The QuEST (Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications)
Forum, a consortium of telecommunications suppliers and service
providers, developed TL 9000 in 1999 using the framework of the
ISO 9000 international standard as a basis. TL 9000 is the world's
first telecommunications industry standard to define requirements
for quality management systems and provide members with a set of
performance-based measurements used in determining "best-in-class"
performance rankings for industry products and services.
