XILINX ASIA PACIFIC HEADQUARTERS READY TO CAPITALIZE
ON REGIONAL MARKET OPPORTUNITIES

Final-test chip facility completed, XAP to start shipping products
to customers across the region

SINGAPORE, March 16, 2005 - Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX), the world's leading supplier of programmable chips and one of the largest fabless semiconductor companies , today announced that its Asia Pacific headquarters (XAP) based in Singapore is fully operational and ready to capitalize on the semiconductor market growth across the region. According to Gartner Dataquest, the Asia-Pacific semiconductor market is projected to grow from US$81.4 billion in 2003 to US$129.3 billion by 2007, while the Asia Pacific PLD market will double from US$554 million in 2003 to US$1.1 billion by 2007. Xilinx is the #1 PLD vendor in Asia Pacific with 52% marketshare in 2004, approximately 60% larger than its nearest competitor. Today, the Asia Pacific region, including Japan, accounts for nearly 40% of Xilinx's global revenues and is expected to contribute over half of its worldwide business in the next few years.

Having hired 80 employees in its first year, XAP has built up a regional operations base covering product planning, supply chain management and product testing, while completing the set up of its Asia Pacific infrastructure functions, such as finance, human resources, IT, sales operations, marketing and customer service. With its final-test chip facility now completed, XAP will start shipping programmable chips, including mainstream 130nm and advanced 90nm products, to customers across the region on April 4, 2005, with the long-term goal to have the regional headquarters fulfill most of Xilinx customers' needs in the region.

"The successful set up of our Asia Pacific headquarters is a strategic milestone in our global expansion plans to invest our resources and increase our leadership position in high-growth regions," said Mr. Wim Roelandts, Chairman, President and CEO of Xilinx. "XAP's efforts to enhance our product delivery to our customers and provide support to our offices across Asia Pacific put us in excellent position to meet the growing regional demand for programmable chips."

"I'm extremely proud of the effort of our team in Singapore to quickly ramp up our Asia Pacific headquarters and serve our customers across the region," said Mr. Stacy Fender, Managing Director, Xilinx Asia Pacific. "As the Asia Pacific region continues to grow in importance to the worldwide semiconductor market, our Singapore-based headquarters will have opportunities to take on global charters and product development responsibilities."
