4.2i Foundation - Error: "Cannot find a valid license for Synopsys Constraint Manager..."

Keywords: license, Pcm, Synopsys, constraint, express, manager,

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
When I start Project Manager, the following error message occurs:

"Pcm: Cannot find a valid license for Synopsys Constraint Manager. Constraint Editor/Viewer will not be available."

Everything except the Constraints Editor appears to be working correctly.

The Constraints Editor may not be picking up the license.

Please ensure that the temporary license file included with the initial software installation is removed.

Also, go to the Systems Environment settings (My Computer-> Right Click-> Properties-> Environment) and ensure that the LM_LICENSE_FILE variable is set, and that a path is pointing to the correct license.

If you cannot synthesize a design:

This warning is caused by a licensing problem.

Please see (Xilinx Answer 5331) and (Xilinx Answer 5330) if you are using a node-locked license.

Please see (Xilinx Answer 5333) and (Xilinx Answer 5332) if you are using a floating license.

If you can synthesize a design:

This warning is not always a cause concern; synthesis may still be possible, despite the warning.

Additionally, if you have the Base (FND BAS) version of Foundation, you can ignore this message and use the tool without encountering any problems. (The Base package does not support Constraints Editor.)
