LogiCORE Initiator/Target for PCI- "ERROR:NgdBuild:604 - Logical block 'PCI_CORE/PCI_LC' with type 'PCI_LC_I' could not be resolved..."

Description

NGDBuild results in an error similar to the following:

"Checking expanded design ...

ERROR:NgdBuild:604 - Logical block 'PCI_CORE/PCI_LC' with type 'PCI_LC_I' could not be resolved. A pin name misspelling can cause this, a missing EDIF or NGC file, or the misspelling of a type name. Symbol 'PCI_LC_I' is not supported in target 'virtex'."

Why does this error occur?

Solution

These errors are generated when NGDBuild cannot find the netlist for the PCI Core. The netlist for the PCI Core is called "pci_lc_i.ngo." Depending on the core version, this file is either found in the top-level directory of the generated core (v4.# core), or in the /src/xpci directory (v3.# series core).

NGDBuild must be able to locate this file. When using the command line, use the -sd option to point to the directory containing the file. For example:

ngdbuild -sd ../../src/xpci
-sd ../synthesis
-uc ../../src/ucf/v300pq240_32_33.ucf
../synthesis/pcim_top

When using the interface, right-click on NGDBuild and set the macro search path to the directory containing the core NGO file.
