AR# 11506

3.1i Virtex-II PAR - Placer does not obey RPM constraints in a Reed-Solomon core.

Description

Keywords: Reed-Solomon, RPM, constraints, RLOC, core, carry, chain

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
PAR fails to follow RPM constraints in a Reed-Solomon core; this problem can also occur with other cores or user constraints.

(The problem occurs when user-RPMs cover part of a carry chain that then conflicts with placer-generated RPMs that are automatically generated for carry chains.)

Solution

This problem is fixed in the latest 3.1i Service Pack, available at:
http://support.xilinx.com/support/techsup/sw_updates.
The first service pack containing the fix is 3.1i Service Pack 8.
