LogiCORE 1-D Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) v1.0 - Generation of a 1D DCT may cause a core dump on Solaris machines (D_IP4)

Description

Keywords: Solaris, generate, fails, error, Discrete Cosine Transform

Generating the 1D DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) on Solaris machines may cause a core dump.

Solution

This problem appears to relate to a bug in the UNIX JIT (Java in time) compiler for Solaris, as it does not happen on Windows platforms. Using the interpreter instead of the JIT compiler has proven to help overcome the core dump and crash of the CORE Generator.

To use this work-around, you must set the following environment variable before starting CORE Generator:

setenv JAVA_COMPILER none

After doing this, start up CORE Generator, and the core will generate successfully.
