ModelSim XE (MXE) EVAL 5.3d - MXE EVAL crashes without any messages on some designs. (VHDL, Verilog)

Keywords: ModelSim, MXE, EVAL, 5.3d, crash, VHDL, Verilog, warning, simulation

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
ModelSim XE EVAL crashes on some designs without any error message.

All MTI ModelSim EVAL versions have a 7MB physical memory limitation. This means that they will only simulate designs that use less than 7MB of physical RAM. Therefore, for larger designs, MXE EVAL versions cannot be used.

There is a bug in the MTI 5.3x EVAL versions (including MXE 5.3d EVAL) that causes the software to crash when this memory limit has been reached, instead of displaying an appropriate error message. This problem will be fixed in the MXE 5.5x release, due out in the summer of 2001.
