4.1i Licensing - Should my LM_LICENSE_FILE variable be set as a user or a system variable on Windows NT/2000?

General Description:
Should my LM_LICENSE_FILE variable be set as a user variable or a system variable on Windows NT/2000?

Solution

Xilinx recommends that the LM_LICENSE_FILE be set as a user variable for Windows NT and Windows 2000.

If the file is set as both system and user, the user variable should take precedence. However, problems have occurred in a small number of cases in which the LM_LICENSE_FILE is set as both a system and a user variable.

If this is the case, remove the LM_LICENSE_FILE from the system variables, and set it only in the user variables.
