4.1i Install - A Solaris installation from an X-Win32 window fails with a segment fault or core dump

Keywords: Install, Solaris, X-Win32, remote, segment, fault, core, dump, segmentation

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
When I run "Setup" from the CD during an X-Win32 session, the installation fails with a segment fault or core dump.

This issue occurs with X-Win32 version 5.0 or later, and has been documented in other PC-Based X-Windows Terminal Emulators.

X-Win32 is not officially supported or tested by Xilinx, but a solution to this issue is listed on the Starnet (makers of X-Win32) web site. The Xilinx Installer uses the Java Development Kit (JDK), which requires certain fonts. Many X-Windows emulators do not include these fonts with a typical installation. The Solaris "Java Development Kit" fonts for X-Win32 can be found at http://www.starnet.com/support/extrafonts.htm. Installing these fonts will remove this error.

If you encounter this error with other PC Terminal Emulators, we suggest you check your program's support web site for a similar solution.
