4.1i Install - If the wrong CD is placed in the CD-ROM drive after a documentation installation, Windows 98 crashes

Description

Keywords: Install, Windows, 98, blue screen, crash, documentation

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
After installing the documentation CD, I am prompted to insert my original installation CD back into the CD-ROM drive. I accidently put in the wrong CD, and Windows 98 crashes.

Solution

This has been known to occur on Windows 98 installations.

Reboot and restart your installation. You will be prompted to insert the Documentation CD and continue. After the Documentation CD is finished, you will be prompted to re-insert your first installation CD. (This CD is the original Tools CD that you used to begin the installation.)
