Virtex-II Pro Developer's Kit - How do I create a new design?

Description

Keywords: Virtex-II, Pro, new, design, developer, kit

Urgency: Hot

General Description:
I have just received the Virtex-II Pro Developer's Kit. How do I create a new design?

Solution

Three reference designs of varying complexity and use are included with the Virtex-II Pro Developer's Kit. Use these designs as a point of reference when beginning your own design:

- Simple PPC405 Reference System - Implements a system with a PPC405 and simple PLB peripherals.

- PPC405 Reference System Using Rocket I/O - Implements a system with a ring of PPC405s, each acting as a packet processor. Data is sent via the Rocket I/O transceivers.

- Embedded PPC405 Reference System - Implements a system with one PPC405 with several PLB and OPB peripherals.

Included in the Simple PPC405 Reference System documentation (Chapter 2, Volume 6 of the March 2002 release of v2pdk.pdf) is a section detailing how to extend or modify that design.
