I do not want to use the BUFGs or global routing resources on my device. How do I prevent the tools from utilizing these resources?

Solution

To prevent a clock signal from being automatically routed to a global clock net, use the "buffer_type" attribute on the signal. For more information on using the "buffer_type" attribute, refer to the latest version of the XST User Guide and the Constraints Guide at:
