5.1i CORE Generator - XST synthesis fails because the XST executable cannot be found

Keywords: COREGen, XST, 8b/10b, Encoder, Decoder, CAM, NGC

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
I am attempting to create an 8b/10b Encoder, 8b/10b Decoder, or CAM core using the Alliance software; however, the tool fails, and an error reports that the xst.exe file cannot be found.

This problem occurs because CORE Generator currently calls up the XST executable when the XST DLL should be used instead. The problem is that the EXE file is not included in the Alliance software package; because of this, XST-based cores will not work for Alliance customers until this is fixed.

PC/Alliance customers can work around this problem by installing 5.1i Service Pack 1, which is available at:

Solaris/Alliance customers can work around this problem by using a PC to generate these cores, or by using IP Update 1, which was released in November, 2002.

Solaris Foundation customers that do not have IP Update 1 may also experience this problem; if this is the case, please contact Xilinx Customer Support for a work-around at:
