5.1i iMPACT - In batch mode, a message reports "ERROR: iMPACT:880 - The bit file...does not have the startup clock set to 'JtagClk'..."

Description

General Description:

When I load a CDF file in batch mode in order to create a PROM file, and I use the "impa.cmd" file created by the ISE software, iMPACT reports the following errors:

"command line: impact -batch impa.cmd

// *** BATCH CMD : adddevice -p 1 -file xcv50

'1': Loading file '.\myfile.bit' ...

done.

INFO:iMPACT:1366 - Reading C:/Xilinx/virtex/data\xcv50.bsd...

ERROR:iMPACT:880 - The bit file '.\myfile.bit' does not have the startup clock set to 'JtagClk'. Please re-generate the bit file with the startup clock option set to 'JtagClk' or toggle the CCLK manually."

Solution

The error is valid if you are attempting to create a JTAG programming chain; however, if you are attempting to create a PROM programming file, this error is being incorrectly reported.

This problem is fixed in the latest 5.1i Service Pack, available at:

http://support.xilinx.com/support/techsup/sw_updates
The first service pack containing this fix is 5.1i Service Pack 1.
