General Description:
When I run "COMPXLIB", the following error occurs:

"ERROR:compxlib[init]:2 - unable to remove file \tmp\.xlog.
File may be in use by another compxlib process."

Solution

In certain circumstances, "COMPXLIB" fails to remove the .xlog file from the "tmp" directory. As long as no other "COMPXLIB" processes are running, go to the "tmp" directory and remove the .xlog file.

This problem is fixed in the latest 5.1i Service Pack, available at:
http://support.xilinx.com/support/techsup/sw_updates
The first service pack containing the fix is 5.1i Service Pack 3.
