5.1i Install - After I install Solaris Service Pack 1, permissions are "744" when they should be "755"

Description

Keywords: 5.1, SP1, Service Pack 1, install, installation, Solaris, permissions, 744, 755, directory, file

After I install 5.1i Service Pack 1 or 2, a number of executables in <$Xilinx>/bin/sol have "744" permissions; this designation makes the executables read-only for "Group" and "World". (The permissions should be "755".)

Solution

This issue occurs on Solaris 2.8/5.8 machines. To work around it, use Chmod 755 <filename> to change permissions to "Group and World Execute" for the affected files.

This issue will be fixed in 5.1i Service Pack 3, which will be available in mid-December 2002.
