5.1i CORE Generator - An "UNKNOWN" label appears in the "Vendor" field of the Cores Catalog Display

Keywords: UNKNOWN, GUI, CoreGEN, Catalog, Display, Vendor

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
In the CORE Generator GUI, the "Vendor" field in the Cores Catalog Display panel displays "UNKNOWN" for the Vendor name.

This condition indicates a problem with the installation. Typically, this is the result of a disconnect between the location of the vendor information file (.CIF) and the location of the .CIF referenced in the core's XCD file. This may be due to the same core existing in two different areas of the user's repository (e.g., under the eip2 and primary subdirectories) as a result of installing a new ISE release (and CORE Generator) over a previous ISE version.

To diagnose the problem:

1. Start CORE Generator in command line mode using the "-d" debug option (Syntax: coregen -d)
2. Open one of the cores for which the vendor is displayed as "UNKNOWN".
3. E-mail the full debug output to Xilinx Customer Support at:
